It's late but I've got to get this review up before December hits!
There may be some of you out there who are looking for a bit of something different to do for the holidays. A holiday art class may be what would be good for you, your heart, your creative spirit.
Plus, you can give away the art you make as gifts. Double bonus!

I discovered Junelle through mixed media artist Christy Tomlinson's website and got SUPER excited when she re-released her The Art of Holiday Goodness class in October. I was salivating with anticipation!
The class has not disappointed. Junelle does a beautiful job with what I call "art from the heart." She is intuitive and what I would call and artist's artist.

What I love
The Art of Holiday Goodness is all about celebrating the fall and winter holiday seasons. I know fall is over, but there are a lot of Christmas projects to work on. Classes really help inspire me to think broader and deeper, especially when I'm in a little bit of a rut. I started taking classes this past summer to help me go deeper in my own practice.
Junelle's The Art of Holiday Class is a celebration of the seasons.
If you are looking for something to help you move deeper into the holiday season with a lot of fun this is the class to take.
If you want to throw off perfectionism and just get messy (and have projects that come out absolutely darling) this is the class to take.
If you want to learn how to create art with watercolors and acrylic and wood blocks and neocolor and pens and torn up pages from books this is the class to take.
If you want to have some fun, this is the class to take.
What I love about Junelle is her ability to help me come up with ideas for my own art. What I love: Jenelle shares the simplicity of sketching: basic shapes and observation.
Add in a plethora of color and fun and the basic becomes the beautiful.

What I missed: Junelle doesn't share every step and she does a lot of detail work I would love to see. I think she's conscientious of time. On the flip side, I may never have gotten through the class if there was more videos. I watch and make the art as I go - and I pause and rewind a lot. The videos are each approximately 20-25 minutes and several lessons have two videos.
Of course, this makes me use my creative noggin a bit more too as I look at her examples and figure out her shading or detail techniques.
What's included:
- 19 projects with instructions and videos for most projects
- Excellent sketching studies and ideas
- Lots of encouragement and direction from Junelle
- Learn how to create a memorable art journal from old books (so much fun).
- Access to a private Facebook group with members from the class (I don't know how long this will go on but right now there is an active group going).
- List of supplies, sketching ideas, photographs
- A variety of side projects to create from the ones we make. This is a multiplication kind of class. One project spurs lots and lots of ideas!
- Students have access for one year
To see a video sample of one of the lessons as well as a class supply list and Junelle's invitation to the class, you can go here to see more.
(I am not an affiliate of Junelle's classes. This post is part of my series of reviews of the classes I've taken to help creatives discern the best classes for them and their busy schedules).

My Takeaway
The Art of Holiday Goodness is a fun art class where you will be able to create projects for yourself and as gifts for friends. I LOVED the art journaling and the recipe blocks- so, so fun!
This is NOT, I repeat NOT a serious class. Junelle is fun and light hearted. She is a blend of introspective (she does a ton of art journaling and is an excavator of the soul) and at the same time she encourages us not to take ourselves or our art too seriously.
Is this a good class for the busy creative woman?
Yes. The projects do take a bit of time- and sometimes I get so involved it's waaaay past my bedtime when I'm finishing. On the flip side, these projects can be done in chunks of time. There is necessary dry time for many of the painting projects, which is a perfect stopping time.
I recommend you spend a good chunk of a weekend day to do a few projects of a couple of nights a week for 30 minutes to an hour to get through several projects before Christmas.

The class is not terribly expensive-$44.95 (this works out to $2.36 per lesson- wow!) and it's a great deal for the amount of video, instruction and inspiration in the class.
If you're December schedule is already looking packed, I'd pass on the class this year and mark it on your 2015 calendar. There are a ton of fall projects that are delightful.
Right now, I'm in the middle of making holiday cards and working on my art journall- all from inspiration and instruction for this class. It's been a pivotal learning time for me- both in my personal heart and my artist skills.
Are you taking a class right now? Which one? What do you love about it?
