I got a bit behind in Natalie's blogging challenge over the weekend; argh! Here is a quick blogging catch up:
Day 6:
What are my three responses over the next 3 days that will move me closer towards living life on my own terms?
Natalie suggests that I make goals that stretch me but are achievable. Sounds good to me. Writing down goals has made a huge different by helping me focus on the things that are the most important.
It's so easy to get up in consuming information and giving in to overwhelm. Written goals help me avoid both laziness and paralysis of analysis.
1. Stick to the marketing plan I've made for Bake Well, Live Well: How to Bake Perfect Cookies and and Build Confidence in the Kitchen. The book will be released via ebook on August 28th with a small print run to follow. (featured on the sister to this site, Bake Perfect Cookies
2. Write 2 Guest Post Blogs Per Week for the next month.
3. Update and complete the website for Food Bloggers
Day 7:
Which key tools will you use to maintain your mindset and how will you use them effectively?
I'm a bit of an old-fashioned gal here.
I tend to use a good-old journal and lots of sticky notes to write my goals and keep myself on track.
Because my mind has a tendency to wander and default to fearful, insecure and doubtful when I'm not watching, I memorize bible verses that keep my focus on God, His awesome promises for me and OFF of worry, doubt and fear. I memorize bible verses with an online community. We get together (virtually speaking) every two weeks. Without these girls, I wouldn't stay so alert!
Also, I need to spend time in quiet and rest. It's a bit too easy for me to go into overwork drive and then into a plain old frenetic mess. Bleh. Stopping and moving away from the work, being quiet, turning off the technology and listening to the birds is incredibly rejuvenating.
Write it down. Reinforcement. Take time to rest and enjoy. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
Our minds are sponges, always absorbing stuff whether or not we mean to. Learning to be intentional about what I'm storing and focusing on is integral to persevering.
And...I'm loving the discipline participating in Natalie's blogging challenge is bringing me
