I love today's question: Whose online business do I admire?
Three different women came to mind almost immediately but I'm going to focus on one: Holly Becker of Decor8.
I first met Holly at a life changing conference, The Creative Connection, in 2011.
It was a gathering of about 700 artisan entrepreneurs who were looking for inspiration, fun and connection.
We got it
Holly was the one of the keynote speakers for Friday's Dinner. Starting out as a self-taught interior designer who began blogging about the designs she liked on her blog,Decor8, and as a columnist in a number of offline and online magazines, Holly became well known in the world of blogging, interior design and photography.
With a lot of hard work, Holly now has an internationally known blogger, teacher, author, e-course designer, stylist and much more.
While interior design is not a passion of mine, creative women artisan entrepreneurs are and Holly fits the definition.
Here are just some of her accomplishments:
- 2 published books
- Several online E-courses (that consistently sell out)
- Speaking and traveling
- In home workshops
- Conference presenter, speaker and demonstrator
- Photographer & Stylist
- Award winning blogger
Plus, Holly is passionate about sharing what she has learned about what she has learned with other women, empowering others to learn the skills to lead a creative, fulfilling life.
She has both passive income and income from right-now sources (events, speaking, etc.)
No one in my friend group may have ever heard of Holly. That is one characteristic of today's niche leaders. There are many women who, intentionally or not, are becoming influences in their niches and communities, changing and influencing one life at a time.
Not only is Holly vocationally successfull, she has a story of courage and determination and taking positive action every single day. Life brought huge challenges but Holly kept pursuing her dream, even when she wasn't sure of the next step or even WHAT the next step should be.
I love that in an artisan entrepreneur.
Some quotes from Holly at The Creative Connection dinner:
Hope breeds expectation and fuels anticipation.
Uphill battles can be good. They breed muscles and growth.
Always take something away from failure and mistakes.
You can't be who you are today without everything you've been through. So don't look back with regret. Everything can teach and build.
Keep testing the waters. Regret is worse than fear.
Keep inspiring people.
Happy endings are possible despite bad beginnings.
Obstacles are a way to prove how bad you want something.
